Program Manager-Training

 

Kennametal, Knowledge Center is seeking a dynamic Technical Training Manager with a solid background in CNC machining and proven expertise in delivering engaging classroom training sessions, as well as managing strategic technical training programs specifically focused on metal cutting applications. This role is instrumental in conducting and overseeing technical training initiatives to enhance knowledge and skills in Metal Cutting processes across the entire value chain, including Kennametal employees, channel partners and end customers.

 

Key Responsibilities

Training Program Management:

  • Lead comprehensive management of training programs, overseeing the design, implementation, and deployment of metal cutting application training initiatives nationwide in India, in collaboration with the Sales team and distributors.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop, refine, and enhance training content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with business objectives, while also supporting improvements to presentations and training materials by incorporating creative elements to boost engagement and effectiveness.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of technical training initiatives tailored to diverse stakeholders (employees, distributors, customers).
  • Manage training logistics, including venue selection, equipment setup, and coordination of training materials and giveaways.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal teams, channel partners, and customers to understand training needs and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary contact for training inquiries and support needs, coordinating with presenters and suppliers to facilitate seamless training events.

Training Delivery and Engagement:

  • Deliver comprehensive training on metal cutting tools applications and solutions.
  • Foster a dynamic and interactive learning environment that promotes knowledge retention and skill development among participants.
  • Conduct engaging training sessions focused on Metal Cutting, utilizing innovative methods and tools to actively involve participants and enhance knowledge retention. Sessions typically range from 2 to 8 hours per day during training periods.
  • Demonstrate strong co-presentation skills by collaborating effectively with other presenters to deliver cohesive and impactful training sessions. Coordinate with existing presenters to ensure consistency in training content and delivery styles, and serve as a presenter when needed

  • Enhance training materials to ensure they are visually appealing, interactive, and aligned with learning objectives. Periodically update and beautify content using tools such as PowerPoint, animation software, photography, videography, and video editing tools.

Training Record Maintenance:

  • Extend your support to maintain accurate training records and documentation, ensuring data integrity and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Manage our data management tools and systems to maintain the Training Invitation, schedule, training attendance, feedback and performance metrics.

This integrated approach to program and training management emphasizes efficient project execution and effective collaboration with stakeholders to drive impactful technical training initiatives across the value chain. The Technical Training Manager will play a critical role in enhancing organizational capabilities and fostering relationships through high-quality training programs and content management.

Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 6-10 years of extensive experience in the Metal Cutting industry, including roles in training, manufacturing, sales, application, design, engineering, R&D, or CNC programming. Knowledge of CNC machining processes like turning, milling, and drilling is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience (1-3 years) in designing and implementing technical training programs at the corporate level, particularly in industrial or manufacturing settings, with strong grasp of adult learning principles and instructional design for both classroom and online training.
  • Customer focused with a strategic approach to training delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for on-site training sessions and industry events.
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills, capable of engaging audiences of 30-40 participants.
  • Proficient in project management, including budgeting, resource management, and overseeing training project timelines.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
  • Good Knowledge & Skilled in MS Office and training automation tools for program management and communication.
