The role

As an experienced Technical Author, or Information Developer, in the Technical Publications group, you contribute to the development and automation of customer-facing documentation.

By providing editorial support of customer-facing documents, you will gain an understanding of the Imagination's technologies and will experience working with engineering teams all the way from project managers and team leads to individual hardware and software engineers.

Your editorial support of documentation content, and information development work on document automation, will play a key role in ensuring that customer-facing documentation follows given templates and structures, and that documentation follows consistent structure and styling.

You will:

Work with other members of the Technical Publications group and the engineering teams.Maintain the documentation for the various technologies, including 3D Graphics, Compute, Vision and AI, RISC processors and Ethernet packet processors. Provide different intensity of editing, depending on requirements.Carry out developmental editing, copy editing, proofreading and production editing.Incorporate editorial and technical review comments.Write documentation according to the target audience and required technical content defined in documentation plans.Ensure that documents adhere to the corporate style guides.Work with subject matter experts to gather information updates

You'll have:

Experience working as a Technical Author or Information Developer in technical publications for a software or hardware company.A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Computer Science, Electronics, Software Engineering or similar), or a qualification in information development (publishing, publishing studies, media, or electronic media).Experience in using drawing applications such as Visio or Inkscape.Experience in modular documentation formats such as DITA XML.Experience in other documentation standards and tools such as reStructuredText, AsciiDoc, or Markdown.Experience in using revision control systems such as Perforce, Git, RCS, or Subversion.Experience with Python or other scripting languages.

You might also have:

Experience and enthusiasm in information development, for example: Approaching development of written material both from a top-down approach and a bottom-up approach.Information Mapping.Information design and modular documentation.Production of different online delivery formats such as Help and PDF.Experience with word processing systems and word processing templates.Experience with formatting and publishing systems such as CSS, XSLT, XSLT-FO, DITA-OT, Sphinx or Docutils.Writing documentation plans. An interest in 3D Graphics, Ray Tracing, Vision and AI, RISC processors, or Ethernet packet processors, and are keen to gain a better understanding of leading edge technologies in this field.
