Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct fair, thorough and timely investigations into allegations of violations of Global Human Resources (HR) policies or local law and policies to ensure fair treatment of all employeesMaintain knowledge of current best practices in the employee relations field (e.g., theories, frameworks, technologies, and trends)Incorporate industry best practices into employee relations practices/programs (e.g., CLC, gOEbase, Bersin) Provide leadership and direction to employees, managers and HCPs on handling workplace issuesEstablish personal trust and credibility with business partners and stakeholders (e.g., leaders, Human Capital Partners)Responsible for investigations and management of matters that are raised to the Company, more specifically around conflict, bullying, discrimination, unfair treatment, workplace harassment, sexual harassment, performance management and any other work-related grievancesAdvise on and help to resolve other workplace concerns to determine the appropriate approach and to ensure fair treatment of all employees. De-escalate and resolve matters as appropriate using empathetic listening and conflict resolution skillsEnsuring investigations adhere to timelines and are conducted sensitively, confidentially, fairly and keeping in mind duty of care and employee experience at all timesEnsuring investigations are well researched, in consideration of the full and crucial factors: applying extensive employee relations/employment law experience and knowledge to manage cases quickly, effectively and professionally, ensuring that the risk to the bank is mitigated and that decisions reached are fair, consistent and in line with legal obligations and regulatory expectationsPartner and collaborate with other ER team members. Supporting each other, collaborating, partnering, and sharing information to enhance team effectiveness. Build solid relationships, partner, and collaborate with internal-stakeholders including the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) and Compliance, Legal, Employment Law to ensure the right outcomes are achievedHelp balance risk, taking into account employee, business, and company perspectiveDerive insights from ER Incident data base and assist Talent as well as Business leadership in developing and deploying appropriate strategies, policies, procedures and initiatives to mitigate People risk exposuresComply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do soRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience7+ years of experience in Employee Relations, Human Resources or Employment LegalExperience in conducting investigations and advising on or supporting local disciplinary and investigation processesExperience in establishing cross-functional relationships at all levels and geographiesAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
