We are seeking an experienced and inspiring IBDP English Facilitator with 8+ years of demonstrated excellence in teaching International Baccalaureate English. The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about language, literature, and critical inquiry, and brings a student-centred approach that aligns with the IB philosophy. This role requires a facilitator who can create intellectually engaging learning environments, support students' holistic growth, and uphold academic rigor while fostering creativity and independent thinking.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction for IBDP English Language & Literature and/or Literature courses, ensuring alignment with IB curriculum standards, assessment criteria, and learning objectives.
- Develop and implement unit plans, lesson plans, formative assessments, and summative assessments that promote critical thinking, textual analysis, academic writing, and effective communication.
- Mentor students through the Internal Assessment (IA), Extended Essay (EE), and other core IB components, providing structured guidance and constructive feedback.
- Design inquiry-based, differentiated learning experiences that accommodate diverse learning styles and challenge students at all levels.
- Facilitate engaging class discussions, Socratic seminars, workshops, and collaborative activities that encourage deep analysis and appreciation of global literature.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, provide timely feedback, and support students in achieving their academic goals.
- Integrate technology, digital tools, and multimedia to enhance learning experiences, research skills, and classroom engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the IB Coordinator, English Department, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure curriculum coherence, assessment alignment, and effective instructional strategies.
- Participate in IB-related events, professional development, curriculum reviews, and accreditation processes.
- Contribute to the school's academic culture through co-curricular programs, literary clubs, competitions, reading initiatives, and student-led projects.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that reflects IB Learner Profile attributes and promotes inquiry, open-mindedness, and international-mindedness.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of IBDP English curriculum frameworks, assessment criteria, and pedagogical best practices.
- Expertise in teaching literary analysis, global literature, stylistic features, language techniques, and critical commentary.
- Demonstrated ability to guide students through high-stakes IB assessments including IAs, HL Essays, and Extended Essays.
- Excellent command over written and spoken English with strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create structured, student-centred lessons that incorporate inquiry, reflection, and independent research.
- Skilled in differentiating instruction and providing support for diverse learners, including high achievers and students needing additional guidance.
- Strong classroom management skills with an empathetic, supportive approach.
- Tech-savvy, with experience using LMS platforms, digital assessment tools, and virtual learning resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural school environment, demonstrating professionalism, adaptability, and initiative.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- IB-certified training in DP English A (Language & Literature or Literature) is highly desirable.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience teaching IBDP English, with a proven track record of student success.
