About the Opportunity
Healthcare – Tertiary acute-care hospital sector. A 250‑bed multi-specialty hospital in Assam is establishing a fully equipped cardiac catheterisation laboratory to expand interventional cardiology services and improve regional access to advanced cardiac care.
We are seeking a Senior Interventional Cardiologist (Consultant) to provide hands‑on consultancy, proctoring, and structured training to a junior cardiologist and cath‑lab team. The engagement is advisory with minimal procedural workload; leadership and teaching are central.
Role & Responsibilities- Advise on cath‑lab infrastructure, equipment selection, room layout, and procurement prioritisation to meet clinical and regulatory standards.
- Provide on‑site proctoring and supervised procedural mentoring to a junior cardiologist—support initial cases and progressive autonomy.
- Design and deliver a training curriculum: simulation sessions, case review, complication management, and competency assessments.
- Develop clinical protocols and SOPs for patient selection, anticoagulation, radiation safety, infection control, and emergency response.
- Establish quality‑assurance processes: case audits, KPI tracking, morbidity‑mortality review, and vendor/device evaluation.
- Liaise with hospital leadership on staffing, scheduling, and vendor onboarding; support initial visits (2–3 days) with travel and accommodation arranged and paid by the hospital.
Must‑Have
- Coronary angiography
- Percutaneous coronary intervention
- Transradial access
- Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
- Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
- Hemodynamic monitoring
Preferred
- Cath lab workflow
- Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport
- Experience in setting up or commissioning a cath lab
Ideal candidate profile: A retired senior cardiologist with advanced interventional experience (DM/DrNB or equivalent), proven record of proctoring/mentoring, and the ability to translate best practices into sustainable local protocols. This role is advisory—the hospital emphasises on‑site guidance and capacity building rather than high clinical volume from the consultant.
Benefits & Culture Highlights- Flexible advisory engagement with no heavy ongoing procedural workload—focus on training and oversight.
- Professional, prompt management with reliable payments and administrative support.
- Travel and accommodation covered for initial on‑site visits (2–3 days); supportive environment to build a high‑quality cath lab programme.
Location: On‑site at a 250‑bed hospital in Assam, India. To apply or request a confidential discussion, please respond with a brief CV highlighting interventional experience and previous proctoring or cath‑lab setup roles.
