Track Engineer

TRACK/SITE ENGINEER

•   

Reporting to the Track Construction Manager, the Track Construction Engineer will support the Track Construction Manager for Trackwork Construction for NICC both at a Corporate

Level and Project Level.

•   

The Track Construction Engineer shall also provide support and provide Trackwork expertise to other
NICC

departments for Design, Tendering, Estimation, Claims and Planning.

•   

The Track Construction Engineer may be assigned to any of the NICC Projects.

•   

Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with clients, subcontractors, engineering, and internal partners.

•   

Prepare reports to Senior Management with details of Progress, Quality, Safety.

•   

Assist the Track Construction Manager to manage the Trackwork Sub Contractor and perform the following functions: -

•   Meets with the subcontractor's team regularly to review progress and, as appropriate, weekly work plans, method statements, inspection and test plans (ITP's), risks assessments, field directions and schedules.

•   Liaise with client and subcontractor representatives, responding to their queries and

organizing construction progress, planning meetings and reporting.

•   

Controls and ensure that the plans, specifications, shop drawings and change documents are correct for the planned work and are approved.

•   

Control and ensure that the resources assigned to the work are sufficient, adequately

trained for the task, briefed on the method statement or work plan and that they can perform the work in a safe manner.

•   

Control and ensure that the materials on site are sufficient and approved per shop

drawings or other material approvals.

•   Assures that production and Inspection tests are carried out and verify conformance to approved ITPs.

•   Prepare and or review Method Statements for operational tasks and activities.

Coordination with various contractors/ subcontractor and suppliers for supply and construction.

•   

Review and certify payments from Subcontractors.

•   

Coordinate of interface activities between Trackwork and other disciplines such as Systems and Civil Works.

•       
Report S/C site

manpower and resources on a daily and weekly base.

•       
Identification and development of storage areas for stacking the Track work materials.

•       
Coordination with Logistics teams for supply, transportation and delivery of the materials to site locations.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

Academic Qualifications:

•      Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 8-10 years of related work experience, i.e. experience on heavy track design and build projects.

• years of track work experience required in lieu of education requirements. Specific experience related to construction management of ballasted track systems, slab tracks systems, as well as mass spring systems and depot track installations.

Professional Qualifications:

•      Registered with a relevant Institute and preferably Chartered Engineer.

Experience:

•      Track construction planning and reporting, civil engineering processes and methods.

•      Ballasted track systems, slab tracks systems, as well as mass spring systems and depot track installations.

•      Turnout Installation, Destressing, Tamping and detailed knowledge of Track Technology and Innovations.

•      Familiarity with Flash Butt Welding, Alumino-Thermit Welding of Rails.

•      Familiarity with interface duties in coordination with the systems, civil contractors, the client and other stakeholders.

Other Skills:

•      In-depth knowledge of track construction principles, standards, and safety regulations

•      Effective communication and interpersonal skills

•      Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
