Key Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture & Design
  • Design and maintain enterprise-wide data architecture (conceptual, logical, physical models).
  • Define data storage, movement, and integration strategies across on-prem and cloud platforms.
  • Build data models supporting analytics, AI/ML, and operational reporting.
  • Define data dictionaries, lineage, and metadata management processes.
  • Data Integration & Management
  • Architect and oversee ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
  • Integrate data from internal and external sources ensuring high quality and consistency.
  • Optimize performance, scalability, and cost in collaboration with DevOps/platform teams.
  • Enable real-time and batch data processing using modern tools and frameworks.
  • Data Governance & Security
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.).
  • Define access controls, encryption standards, and audit mechanisms with Security teams.
  • Monitor data usage and manage data life cycle policies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Align data architecture with enterprise architecture in collaboration with software architects.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to data engineers and analysts.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and lead data modernization initiatives.
  • Optimize data systems for performance, cost efficiency, and long-term scalability.
  • Document architecture standards, decisions, and roadmaps.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture and data management roles.
  • Expertise in conceptual, logical & physical data modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Synapse) and data lakes.
  • Proficiency with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Talend, dbt, Nifi) and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect).
  • Strong cloud knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP) and platforms like S3, Glue, Databricks, Data Factory.
  • Experience with data governance, MDM, and metadata management.
  • Understanding of data security, encryption, compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Strong SQL, analytical thinking, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with data mesh/data fabric or modern data stacks.
  • Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of Python, SQL, and transformation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
