The Steward plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas within the establishment. As a key member of the hospitality team, the Steward ensures that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized, contributing to a safe and excellent dining experience for guests. This position goes beyond basic cleanliness; it involves actively supporting kitchen operations, collaborating with chefs, and helping to maintain inventory levels. Key Responsibilities
  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including floors, countertops, and storage units.
  • Help in the preparation area by getting ingredients ready as required by chefs.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of dining room and banquet areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins regularly to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Keep inventory of cleaning supplies and report low stock levels to management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all cleaning practices.
  • Support kitchen staff during peak times by providing assistance as needed.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies delivered to the kitchen.
  • Maintain orderly storage spaces and ensure proper labeling of kitchen items.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve job performance.
  • Help in serving food during busy hours when necessary.
  • Uphold high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and efficient work environment.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Basic understanding of food safety standards.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
  • Good communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
