Role Overview:

The Director will lead and manage all aspects of food safety, quality assurance, training, and compliance programs across the organization. This role is accountable for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust food safety and quality management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, FSMA, GFSI standards such as SQF/BRCGS) and internal policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety, quality assurance, and compliance programs including HACCP, GMP, sanitation, pest control, and traceability.
  • Lead and manage capability development through training programs for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across all levels of staff.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits, third-party audits, regulatory inspections, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Manage the food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation teams, including mentoring and performance management.
  • Coordinate product and process specifications, customer complaint investigations, recall procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and customers on food safety and compliance matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement and implement best practices leveraging data analysis and quality tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Prepare and manage documentation related to food safety and quality management systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • Extensive experience (typically 9+ years) in food safety, quality assurance, and compliance management at a senior level in the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of global food safety standards, regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
