About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Textile Sourcing Expert to join our team in Surat. The ideal candidate should have strong industry connections, deep knowledge of fabrics, vendors, mills, and markets, and the ability to source high-quality textiles efficiently and cost-effectively for fashion collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source a wide range of textiles including silks, cottons, blends, handlooms, embroideries, and specialty fabrics for various collections.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with mills, suppliers, artisans, and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and terms to ensure cost-effective sourcing without compromising quality.
- Stay updated on fabric trends, innovations, and new materials relevant to the fashion industry.
- Work closely with the design and production teams to understand fabric requirements and ensure timely sourcing.
- Conduct quality checks and approvals for fabric samples, swatches, and bulk supplies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of fabric options, rates, vendors, and sourcing timelines.
- Ensure ethical sourcing practices, consistency in quality, and adherence to brand standards.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, weaving processes, dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques.
- Well-connected with vendors, mills, and textile markets (experience in Surat, Ahmedabad, or South India is a plus).
- Excellent negotiation skills with a practical understanding of costing and MOQs.
- Ability to evaluate fabric quality, performance, feel, and suitability for design needs.
- Prior experience in a fashion house, textile mill, or sourcing role preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict timelines.
