Job Title: Electrical Engineer - BESS (Design and Engineering)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer - Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to lead the design, engineering, and implementation of Battery Energy Storage Systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in energy storage, electrical engineering, and power system design, as well as a thorough understanding of BESS applications for grid stabilization, renewable integration, and peak load management.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Design and Development: Design electrical layouts for Battery Energy Storage Systems, including system architecture, hybrid renewable energy (Solar, Wind, and BESS) key single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical schematics, and component specifications.
• Energy Storage Analysis: Perform technical analysis, sizing, and simulations to optimize BESS performance based on project requirements such as peak shaving, frequency regulation, and renewable integration.
• Grid Integration and Compliance: Develop grid-connected BESS solutions, ensuring system compatibility, stability, and compliance with grid codes and regulatory standards.
• Component Specification and Selection: Specify and select BESS components (containers, batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear) with consideration for capacity, efficiency, safety, and lifespan.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all designs meet applicable safety standards and industry regulations (e.g., BIS, UL, IEC, NEC), with a focus on fire protection and system reliability.
• Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Support commissioning, performance monitoring, and diagnostics of BESS installations, providing technical support to resolve issues as needed.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical specifications (TS), material requisitions (MR), requests for quotation (RFQ), technical bid evaluations (TBE), technical clarifications (TQ/TC), commercial bid evaluations (CBD), tender/bid technical analysis (TBA/CBA), kick-off meeting (KOM), master document list (MDL), Design of Responsibilities (DoR), bid/tender value engineering and design, execution phase detailed design and engineering, vendor documents (VDL), and as-built drawings for each project, as well as provide technical support during project handover.
• Project Coordination: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, and project engineers, to ensure integrated design solutions and successful project execution.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems or related fields, with a focus on electrical design and grid integration.
• Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant BESS certifications are preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in design and simulation software (e.g., ETAP, AutoCAD, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards for BESS (UL, IEC, NEC, IEEE).
• Familiarity with BESS system components, including lithium-ion power cell (NMC), lithium-iron-phosphate battery (LFP), vanadium redox flow batteries (VRB) storage for long durations back-up for peak hours and round-the-clock, and alternative battery chemistries, inverters, and controllers.
• Other Skills:
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for project coordination and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with utility-scale BESS projects and renewable energy integration.
• Knowledge of advanced BESS applications, including microgrids and hybrid renewable systems.
• Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS) and SCADA for BESS.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work on-site and in field environments as needed. Prepare design basis report.
• Comfortable with occasional travel for project commissioning and site assessments.
