THE ROLE

You will be the core driver of reliability and performance for Pure Storage's most critical database systems, ensuring our global infrastructure is highly available and resilient. This high-impact role in the Engineering Productivity team is focused on delivering optimized, low-latency data services that fuel product innovation and data velocity. You will collaborate closely with FlashBlade Engineering, Development, and DevOps teams, shaping the future of data management for petabytes of mission-critical data.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Elevate Service Resilience: Design, implement, and operate highly available and resilient PostgreSQL and MySQL cluster architectures to guarantee continuous, fault-tolerant service delivery for all internal engineering teams.

• Champion Performance Optimization: Analyze, troubleshoot, and fine-tune complex database workloads to achieve industry-leading low-latency and high-throughput performance at massive scale, directly impacting the speed of product development.

• Ensure Business Continuity: Define and execute robust data integrity, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies that safeguard all critical engineering data and minimize recovery time objectives (RTO).

• Drive Proactive Observability & Security: Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and security hardening measures, ensuring proactive issue detection, rapid incident response, and compliance across the entire database fleet.

• Influence Engineering Best Practices: Partner directly with Development and DevOps teams to advise on optimal data modeling, schema design, and scaling solutions, enabling seamless and reliable integration of new product features.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Advanced Expertise in Relational Database Systems: Deep, demonstrable expertise in managing and optimizing highly available production clusters for both PostgreSQL (e.g., advanced replication, partitioning, and performance tuning) and MySQL (e.g., InnoDB engine, clustering, and complex query optimization).

• Automation & Scripting Proficiency: Strong coding and scripting ability (e.g., Python or Bash) to automate routine operational tasks, manage infrastructure configurations, and significantly improve operational efficiency and agility.

• Systematic Problem Solving: A highly systematic and analytical approach to diagnosing complex performance bottlenecks and debugging production-level database and underlying Linux system issues in a distributed environment.

• Operational Ownership: Demonstrated capacity for taking full ownership of production health, including providing effective 24x7 on-call support and driving thorough root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring incidents.

• Infrastructure-as-Code Acumen: Strong understanding of Linux system administration and hands-on experience utilizing infrastructure automation and observability tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana) to manage and scale infrastructure.

• We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Bangalore office in compliance with Pure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
