Job Role: VMC / CNC Programmer cum Setter
Responsibilities
Study and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and process sheets for machining requirements.
Develop CNC programs using G-code or CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX, SolidCAM, etc.).
Select appropriate tools, cutting parameters (feeds, speeds), and fixtures for efficient machining.
Set up VMC / CNC machines, load tools, and ensure correct alignment of workpieces.
Conduct trial runs, prove-out programs, and make necessary offset corrections.
Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, CMM, etc.).
Optimize cycle times and improve machining processes to increase productivity.
Maintain machine health by following preventive maintenance practices.
Train and guide CNC operators during production runs.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality requirements.
Key Skills Required
Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code, M-code, CAM software).
Strong knowledge of VMC operations, tooling, and workholding techniques.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Hands-on experience with machine setup, offsets, and tool calibration.
Knowledge of different materials (steel, aluminum, alloys) and their machining properties.
Familiarity with quality control and inspection techniques.
Problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot machining errors.
Qualifications
ITI / Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical or relevant discipline.
2–5 years (or more) of experience in CNC/VMC programming and setting.
