Our Chief Data Office also known as our Innovation, Data Intelligence & Analytics team (IDA) is focused on driving innovation through optimizing how we leverage data to drive strategy and create a new business model – disrupting the insurance market. As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and data-driven insights, we are seeking a Senior Engineer for our Data Modelling team. The role will support the team's efforts towards developing the Enterprise data model through the development of the data echo system. This role requires a person who is a team player and can work well with team members from other disciplines to deliver in an efficient and strategic manner. What you'll be DOING
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Understanding of Data Architecture: Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of modern data architecture principles and methodologies.
- Data Modeling Expertise: Skilled in designing and enhancing conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business requirements.
- Canonical Data Model Development: Proficient in developing and implementing canonical data models based on ACORD standards.
- JSON Schema Development: Experienced in creating and validating JSON schemas for data interchange and validation.
- Data Modeling Tools Proficiency: Adept at utilizing data modeling tools, with a preference for expertise in SAP PowerDesigner.
- Data Requirements Analysis: Capable of analyzing complex data requirements and translating them into clear and effective data blueprints.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Possesses outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills to address data difficulties.
- Master Data Management Knowledge: Knowledgeable in Master Data Management (MDM) processes and best practices.
- Data Governance Understanding: Understands Data Governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Insurance Domain Awareness: Familiar with the insurance business domain (a plus).
- Data Enthusiasm and Organizational Fit: Exhibits a passion for data, with experience working in data-driven organizational environments.
- Data Quality and Security: Committed to maintaining data integrity and quality across pipelines and environments. Adheres to secure coding practices to ensure data and system security.

- Business & Insurance Acumen: Possesses a solid understanding of insurance industry principles, processes, and terminology, enabling effective alignment of data solutions with business needs.
- Business & Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to optimize and streamline data-related processes, contributing to increased efficiency and improved data quality.
- Stakeholder Management: Builds effective relationships with stakeholders across various functions, effectively managing expectations, gathering requirements, and ensuring alignment on project objectives.
- Data Warehousing: Proficient in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise data warehouse solutions using various modeling techniques.
- Cloud-Based Services: Experience with Microsoft Azure suite of products, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
- Data Governance & Controls: Robust understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and controls to ensure data security and compliance.
- Data Modeling & Engineering: Relevant years of extensive experience in data modeling (relational, semi-structured, data warehouse) and engineering techniques.
- Programming & Data Architecture: Relevant years of experience in programming for data architecture, including designing scalable and efficient data solutions.
- SQL Expertise: Solid skills in writing, optimizing, and analyzing SQL queries for performance and accuracy.
- JSON Schema: Relevant years of experience creating and validating JSON schemas for data validation and interchange.
- Solution Architecture: Ability to analyze complex data requirements and architect practical, achievable solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- SDLC & Agile Methodologies: Robust familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and Agile workflows to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
- Customer Centricity: Demonstrates a robust focus on understanding and meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring data solutions deliver value and improve customer experiences.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effectively collaborates with diverse teams—including business units, data engineers, and IT—to align objectives, share knowledge, and drive successful project outcomes.
- Analytical & Strategic Mindset: Uses analytical thinking to interpret data requirements and develop strategic solutions that support organizational goals and long-term vision.

Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with enterprise-level data design and implementation projects.
- Performance tuning expertise across database and big data platforms.

- Knowledge of Azure cloud computing platform.
- Familiarity with the insurance business domain.
- Experience with reporting tools such as MicroStrategy and Power BI is a plus.
