Network Developer

Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on development and support of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep level understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with programming skills to support the intensive automation required to operate a production environment.

This role is for a Network Development Engineer (NDE) in the FastConnect Network Engineering Team. Your focus will be on the architecture and support of cutting-edge datacenter network fabrics and systems. You will leverage deep level understanding of networking at the protocol level, coupled with coding skills to support the intensive automation required to operate a production environment. • Work with customers (internal/external) to drive end-to-end development and support of edge networking fabric and services at global cloud scale, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence 
• Participate in technical direction for network features and automation opportunities 
• Define and evangelize engineering and operational best practices; work cross-org to keep the bar for network quality high
• Define and clearly communicate technical standards with forward-looking scalability at the forefront
• Responsible for decomposing designs into executable tasks and working through others to execute; collaborate with network software teams early in design lifecycle to develop new tools or frameworks to support design rollouts
• Participate in operational rotations as either primary or secondary. Provide break-fix support for events and serve as escalation point for remediation; participate in post-event root cause analysis 
• Mentor and develop the next generation of network engineers, providing technical leadership, guidance, and support across the organization 
• Act as middle-point between network engineering and network tooling organizations -- translate future network needs into software tooling requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related engineering field with 5+ years of Network Engineering experience or master's with 3+ years of Network Engineering experience
• Experience working in a large ISP or cloud provider environment. Experience with overlay Networking is a plus.
• Experience working in a network operations role.
• Strong knowledge of protocols such as MPLS, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, and DHCP. Also, VxLAN and EVPN will be an added advantage.
• Experience with scripting or automation and data center design – Python preferred but must demonstrate expertise in scripting or compiled language.
• Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and SSL,network monitoring and telemetry solutions.
• Experience with network modeling and programming – YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF.
• Ability to use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
• Capable of working under limited supervision.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Excellent judgment in influencing product roadmap direction, features, and priorities.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
