Job Title: STP Operator (Sewage Treatment Plant Operator)

Department: Engineering / Facilities

Reports to: Maintenance In-Charge / Facility Manager

Location: Almas Hospital - Kottakkal

Job Purpose:

To operate and maintain the sewage treatment plant (STP) to ensure effective and compliant wastewater treatment, in accordance with local environmental and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operation and Monitoring:
• Operate the STP equipment and monitor process parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TDS, flow rate, etc.
• Conduct routine checks of pumps, blowers, clarifiers, tanks, and filtration systems.
• Maintain logbooks and daily records of plant operations.
• Maintenance:
• Perform regular preventive maintenance and minor repairs of STP equipment.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for major repairs and equipment overhauls.
• Ensure proper lubrication, cleaning, and calibration of instruments and machinery.
• Water Testing and Quality Control:
• Collect water and sludge samples and perform basic lab tests or coordinate with lab personnel.
• Ensure treated water meets statutory norms before discharge or reuse.
• Housekeeping and Safety:
• Maintain cleanliness in the STP premises and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Store and handle chemicals (e.g., chlorine, alum) safely.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Record plant readings and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operation reports.
• Report any abnormalities or breakdowns immediately to the maintenance head.
• Compliance:
• Ensure operations comply with pollution control board (PCB) regulations and environmental standards.
• Assist during audits and inspections by authorities.

Qualifications:

• ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or relevant technical field.
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in operating and maintaining STP/WTP/ETP plants.
• Familiarity with environmental standards, wastewater parameters, and treatment technologies.

Skills Required:

• Technical knowledge of pumps, blowers, chemical dosing, filtration systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance.
• Understanding of water chemistry and lab testing basics.
• Record-keeping and basic computer skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15, ₹18,000.00 per month
