Customers use our platform to book services such as beauty treatments, haircuts, massage

therapy, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry, appliance repair, painting, etc., all delivered in the comfort of their home and at a time of their choosing. We promise our customers a

high-quality, standardized, and reliable service experience. To fulfill this promise, we work

closely with our hand-picked service partners, enabling them with technology, training,

products, tools, financing, insurance, and brand, helping them succeed and deliver on this

promise.

Urban Company started as UrbanClap in November 2014, when its founders, Abhiraj, Raghav,

and Varun realized that the home services industry was predominantly unorganized, fragmented, and offline. Customers found it challenging to avail quality services conveniently, and service professionals were struggling to make ends meet, having to rely upon several middlemen, contractors, and local aggregators.

The founders felt that the industry was ripe for disruption, and launched Urban Company, with three key principles in mind -

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

● Own end-to-end procurement, both local and imported SKUs.

● Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers with a focus on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

● Negotiate commercial terms, ensuring favorable lead times and credit structures.

● Build alternate supplier options to mitigate geopolitical and logistical risks.

Inventory & Risk Management

● Design and implement forecasting & replenishment models to balance demand variability with long lead times.

● Optimize safety stock and reorder policies to minimize lost sales and liquidation risk.

● Drive working capital efficiency by aligning procurement with business demand cycles.

● Monitor demand trends, seasonality, and pipeline visibility to dynamically adjust sourcing plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

● Partner with supply chain, sales, and finance teams to align inventory plans with revenue goals.

● Ensure inventory visibility through dashboards and regular reviews.

● Work closely with operations to ensure timely clearance at ports and smooth customs handling.

Leadership & Strategy

● Build and lead a procurement team with strong analytical and negotiation skills.

● Establish best practices in vendor evaluation, contract management, and risk assessment.

● Introduce tools/technology to bring automation and visibility to procurement processes.

What We Need:

● Experience in a high-growth operations-based Startup, E-commerce, and FMCG

● High sense of ownership and a penchant for excellence

● Extremely strong first-principles problem solvers, who have a maker/builder within them and want to bring to life consumer insights to revolutionize the service industry.
