Role Summary

As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining GATEMAAN door systems and gates at customer sites. You will work on mechanical, electrical and automated systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and high quality of service.

Key Responsibilities


• Travel to customer sites, perform installation of door/gate systems per specification (mechanical assembly, alignment, electrical wiring, automation controls).


• Commission and test the installed systems, verifying functionality, safety interlocks, sensors, controls, and user-interface as required.


• Perform preventive maintenance visits: inspect, clean, lubricate, adjust, repair or replace worn components of door systems/gates.


• Troubleshoot and repair in-service failures (mechanical failures, control malfunctions, sensor mis-alignment, motor issues).


• Interface with customers on site: explain operation, maintenance requirements, hand over to end‐user, collect feedback.


• Maintain accurate documentation of installation/service work: job sheets, parts used, service reports, follow-up recommendations.


• Coordinate with back-office/service manager for scheduling, part requisition, escalation of unusual issues.


• Adhere to health & safety standards in the field: site cleanliness, safe use of tools, proper lock-out/tag-out when needed, work in accordance with company protocols.


• Maintain stock of service spares, tools, and test equipment in your van/kit; report shortages proactively.


• Provide input for continuous improvement: suggest product/service enhancements, recurring failure patterns, field feedback.

Desired Qualifications & Skills


• Good mechanical aptitude: ability to work with frames, rollers, tracks, motors, gears, springs, pulleys.


• Solid electrical/control skills: wiring, PLCs/relays, sensors, automation controls, safety interlocks.


• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, installation manuals.


• Comfortable working at heights, on site, in somewhat dusty/industrial environments.


• Good communication skills (for customer interaction, service reporting).


• Customer-focused mindset: high standards of workmanship, reliability, cleanliness, on-time arrival.


• Willingness to travel frequently (within region and sometimes further) and work flexible hours (on-call when needed).


• Strong problem-solving skills, initiative to identify root-causes, escalate when required.

Preferred Attributes


• Experience in automation/gate systems (motorised sliding gates, cantilever gates, folding gates).


• Prior exposure to industrial warehouse doors/rolling shutters.


• Familiarity with safety standards for industrial doors, risk assessments for moving parts.


• Basic computer skills (for service reporting, mobile apps, fault-logging).


• Ability to train customers/end-users on safe operation and periodic maintenance
