Job Description
Position: ICU Staff Nurse
Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Job Summary:
The ICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. The nurse ensures constant monitoring, timely intervention, and accurate documentation to support patient recovery and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care & Monitoring
Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients.
Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and patient condition at regular intervals.
Manage ventilators, infusion pumps, monitors, and other ICU equipment.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as per physician orders.
Perform emergency interventions like CPR as required.
2. Clinical Procedures
Assist with intubation, central line insertion, catheterization, and other ICU procedures.
Maintain sterile techniques and infection-control protocols.
Perform wound care, suctioning, blood transfusions, and specimen collection.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, charts, and medication records.
Report critical changes to doctors and senior staff immediately.
Update handover reports for smooth shift transitions.
4. Patient & Family Support
Educate patient families about ICU protocols and patient status (as per guidelines).
Provide emotional support and maintain professional communication.
5. Safety & Compliance
Follow hospital policies, ICU protocols, and NABH/JCI standards.
Ensure proper handling of biomedical waste and maintenance of sterile environment.
Participate in audits, training, and emergency drills.
6. Team Collaboration
Coordinate with doctors, technicians, and other nursing staff for patient care.
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
Support junior nurses and nursing students when required.
Skills & Qualifications:
GNM / B.Sc Nursing with valid registration.
Minimum 1–2 years ICU experience preferred .
Knowledge of critical care protocols, equipment, and emergency care.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to ₹240,000.00 per year
