QA Automation Engineer

Experience : 5-8 years

Location : Bangalore


Compensation : 15-24 LPA

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with 5 years of hands-on experience in building robust, scalable test automation frameworks for enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in Selenium WebDriver (Java), SQL-based backend validations, API testing, and BDD frameworks like Cucumber. You will work as part of an Agile Scrum team and be responsible for test automation design, implementation, integration, and reporting in a continuous delivery environment.

This is a pure individual contributor role for engineers who enjoy building reliable QA pipelines and collaborating cross-functionally with developers, BAs, and product teams.

Work Model : Hybrid (3 days from office)

Key Responsibilities :


- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver with Java.

- Execute comprehensive backend data validations using SQL queries against relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL).

- Automate API test cases using tools like Postman or REST Assured; validate request/response flows and payloads.

- Contribute to BDD-based testing using Cucumber including writing Gherkin feature files and step definitions.

- Integrate automation suites with TestNG or JUnit for structured execution, reporting, and assertions.

- Work in Agile-Scrum teams and participate in ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

- Collaborate with DevOps teams to trigger tests via CI tools and maintain result traceability via Git and JIRA.

Technical Skills & Expertise :


Must-Have Skills :

- Experience creating reusable functions, handling dynamic UI elements, and synchronization.

- Comfortable writing complex queries, joins, and data comparisons for functional validations.

- Knowledge of integrating SQL queries within test scripts using JDBC for automation.

- Hands-on with Postman or REST Assured; capable of request chaining, status code verification, and JSON assertions.

- Familiarity with Gherkin syntax, step definitions, and integrating with test runners like TestNG or JUnit.

- Proficient in using annotations, assertions, data providers, and managing test suites.

- Experience working in Agile Scrum environments with collaborative QA planning and execution.

- Daily usage of Git for branching, PRs, version control, and collaborating in shared repositories.

Nice-to-Have Skills :


- Basic understanding of triggering automated tests via pipelines and analyzing job results.

- Ability to generate and customize test reports for visual traceability.

- Awareness of strategies for executing tests across different browsers and handling browser-specific issues.
