Job Description:

  • Operating forklifts:
    This includes maneuvering the forklift safely and efficiently to move goods, stack pallets, and load or unload trucks. 


  • Loading and unloading:
    Moving materials from trucks, containers, or rail cars into the facility and vice versa. 


  • Material handling:
    Locating, moving, and stacking materials within the facility, ensuring proper storage and accessibility. 


  • Inventory management:
    Maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials, and updating inventory levels. 

    Other Important Responsibilities:


  • Safety:
    Following all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, including wearing appropriate PPE and reporting any hazards. 


  • Maintenance:
    Performing minor maintenance tasks on the forklift, such as checking fluids and reporting any malfunctions. 


  • Communication:
    Communicating effectively with supervisors and other workers to ensure smooth operations. 


  • Quality control:
    Identifying and reporting any damages or shortages in materials received or shipped. 


  • Documentation:
    Keeping accurate records of materials moved, inventory levels, and completed tasks. 


  • Compliance:
    Adhering to company policies and guidelines, as well as relevant safety regulations. 

    Skills and Qualifications:


  • Forklift certification:
    Most employers require forklift operators to hold a valid certification demonstrating their ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently. 


  • Physical fitness:
    Forklift operation requires physical strength and endurance, as well as good hand-eye coordination. 


  • Attention to detail:
    Accurately following instructions and maintaining accurate records is crucial for efficient inventory management. 


  • Communication skills:
    Effective communication is essential for coordinating with other workers and supervisors. 


  • Problem-solving skills:
    Forklift operators may need to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues or adjust their approach to ensure efficient operation.
