Role Definition

Mechanical Engineer designs Structural components related to Turbo machinery products including Enclosures, Base frames, Support Structures for Ancillary components and validate them to meet the specific requirement. This role provides engineering support for new product development and operational optimization as required to maximize their availability and reliability.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsibilities includes creating design concepts for the structural components (mainly sheet metal, Beam, channels etc) to meet design and manufacturing requirements. Perform hand calculations and FEM analysis for loads, stability, stress, and fatigue analysis.
• Strong knowledge on Structural material properties and their performance considering offshore & Onshore loading conditions.
• Strong Analytical skills including Acoustic for Enclosure and other system components.
• Must apply practical design considerations and utilize technical knowledge to achieve design objectives relative to manufacturability, cost, quality and durability.
• Support innovation by applying the most effective Design solution for new product development.
• Continuously challenges self-skills in functional area and stays current with industry developments in one's field of expertise
• Become part of the product team and form close working relationships by understanding the whole system function and presenting solutions and design direction to the design community in an insightful and timely manner.

Qualification:

• BE Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
• Ability to produce design layouts using CREO or ANSYS Space claim
• Strong structural validation knowledge using ANSYS.
• Strong knowledge in welding symbols and Standards – API, ASME, ISA, ANSI & DIN
• Strong knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Good communication, organizational, teaming and analytical skills are a must.
• Expertise in system & process knowledge in O&G and Power generation industry.
• Field experience, knowledge on BOP would be an added advantage.

Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
 Level Working Knowledge: 

•    Assists in problem resolution, drafting and writing specifications for engineering practices.

•    Works with basic, routine components of the engineering discipline in manufacturing.

•    Performs basic installation, maintenance and repairs for a specific engineering function.

•    Follows relevant standards, policies and practices in engineering operations.

•    Reports unusual engineering issues and considerations regarding manufacturing operations to senior staff.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
 Level Working Knowledge: 

•    Documents test process and results; prepares and analyzes defect-tracking reports.

•    Summarizes features of a specific product-testing process and associated procedures.

•    Tests components for compliance with functional requirements and established conventions.

•    Discusses and compares usability, safety and integration testing.

•    Develops product-testing procedures; participates in selecting testing environment and tools.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

•    Documents common hardware, software and communications problems and likely resolutions.

•    Troubleshoots typical technical problems in a specific area.
