Inspection & Quality Control
Conduct thorough PDI checks on vehicles to ensure they meet the manufacturer's quality standards and specifications.
- Verify vehicle features such as electronics, safety features, air conditioning, lights, brakes, and other key components.
- Check for physical defects like scratches, dents, paint quality, and any cosmetic issues.
- Perform test drives to ensure the vehicle performs correctly and meets operational standards.
Ensure that all required accessories and documents (like manuals, service books, and warranties) are included with the vehicle.
Supervising the PDI Process
Oversee a team of technicians and ensure that they carry out inspections and repairs as per standard procedures.
- Create daily or weekly PDI schedules for the team and assign vehicles for inspection.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as sales and service, to ensure timely delivery of vehicles.
Ensure that any issues identified during inspection are documented and rectified before delivery.
Reporting and Documentation
Maintain detailed records of all inspections, repairs, and modifications made to each vehicle.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on PDI status, including completed inspections, vehicles ready for delivery, and any issues encountered.
- Ensure that vehicles are compliant with regulatory requirements and the brand's specific guidelines.
Update vehicle tracking systems or ERP systems with inspection results and repairs.
Customer Experience and Satisfaction
Ensure that vehicles are delivered in pristine condition to customers, meeting all promised specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the sales team to ensure the vehicle matches customer orders.
- Address any customer concerns or queries related to the vehicle's quality or features.
Participate in customer handover processes, explaining vehicle features and maintenance needs to customers if necessary.
Maintenance of Tools & Equipment
Ensure all PDI tools, equipment, and diagnostic systems are in good working condition and regularly maintained.
Organize necessary resources, such as spare parts or accessories, for repairs or modifications during the inspection process.
Training and Development
Provide ongoing training to team members on the latest inspection techniques, tools, and technologies.
Encourage adherence to safety standards and best practices during inspections and vehicle handling.
Problem Resolution
Act as a point of contact for any escalated issues or concerns related to PDI.
- Work closely with the service department to resolve any technical problems identified during inspections.
In case of defects or issues, coordinate with the manufacturer or suppliers for replacement parts or solutions.
Logistics and Coordination
Ensure that vehicles are properly stored in the PDI area before final delivery.
- Coordinate with the transportation department to ensure timely delivery of vehicles to dealerships or customers.
Maintain inventory of vehicles in PDI and ensure smooth logistics flow.
Continuous Improvement
Suggest improvements in the PDI process to enhance efficiency and quality control.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to PDI operations and make recommendations for optimization.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, technologies, and changes in regulatory requirements.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of automobile mechanics, electrical systems, and quality control processes.
- Attention to detail and the ability to identify issues that could affect vehicle performance or appearance.
- Leadership skills to manage a team effectively.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic tools and systems.
- A background in automotive engineering or a similar technical field is often preferred.
