Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain ADABAS databases on z/OS or other supported platforms.
  • Perform database tuning, monitoring, and optimization to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Manage database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Support application teams with data modelling, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement and maintain security policies, access controls, and audit procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve issues related to database performance, space management, and data integrity.
  • Coordinate with system programmers and application developers for upgrades and patching.
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, standards, and procedures.
  • Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Provide on-call support and incident resolution for production environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as an ADABAS DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ADABAS, Natural, and related tools (Predict, EntireX, etc.).
  • Experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe utilities.
  • Proficiency in performance tuning and troubleshooting ADABAS databases.
  • Familiarity with data migration, replication, and archival strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Software AG tools and environments.
  • Exposure to modernization projects involving ADABAS to RDBMS or cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of COBOL and integration with ADABAS/Natural applications.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., telecom) is a plus.
