Role & responsibilities

  • Perform rapid evaluation of patients upon arrival.
  • Conduct physical examinations and order appropriate tests (labs, X-rays, CT scans, etc.).
  • Identify life-threatening conditions quickly.
  • Administer emergency medications and treatments.
  • Perform critical procedures (intubation, CPR, defibrillation, suturing, wound care, chest tube insertion, etc.).
  • Manage trauma, cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, strokes, and other acute conditions.
  • Determine severity of patient conditions.
  • Prioritize care based on urgency and available resources.
  • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
  • Communicate findings and treatment plans clearly to patients and families.
  • Coordinate transfers to ICUs, operating rooms, or other facilities when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
  • Document assessments, treatments, and patient outcomes.
  • Uphold medical ethics and confidentiality.
  • Maintain skills through ongoing training and certifications (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
  • Ensure patient safety and quality of care at all times.
  • Respond to mass casualty events or hospital-wide emergencies.
  • Follow disaster protocols and coordinate with emergency response teams.
  • Explain diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families in critical situations.

Preferred candidate profile

  • MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related field (MD, DNB, MEM, or equivalent).
  • Valid medical license/registration.
