Job Title: Manager
Purpose of the role
Global Risk Steward Support team is a Group Capability within the RC (Regulatory Compliance) function that sets standards and infrastructure as well as perform stewardship tasks on behalf of risk stewards, to support stewardship activities across organization.
RSPO (Risk Steward Process Optimisation) team is part of RC Stewardship Support, CoE (Centres of Excellence) which is expanding its footprint across CoE locations primarily focusing on providing Stewardship support to RC Risk Stewards across HSBC. The team provides operational support to Country/Regional/LoB Risk Stewards in managing their Core Risk Stewardship responsibilities. This operational support entails the completion of key Risk Stewardship processes such as Quality Assessment of Risk and Control Assessments (RCA), Review of Continuous Monitoring Plan of Controls performed by Control Owners, Trigger Events Review and Read Across activities; all supporting the delivery / adherence to Risk Management Framework
This role holder will support Country/Regional/LoB Risk Stewards in managing their Risk Stewardship responsibilities by reviewing the RC risk data and provide recommendations to bridge gaps and enhance qualitative output of Risk Stewards tasks and overall stewardship framework across the organization
In this role, you will:
To support 2LoD stakeholders in stewardship tasks across activities like RCA QA, Trigger Events Review, Continuous Monitoring Plans, Path to green (PTG).To proactively identify key emerging RC risks across all RC categories and interface appropriately with risk stewards and senior management.To pro-actively work with the Business and Stakeholders to enhance policies and procedures as required.To provide innovative and effective solutions to problem statements based on SME knowledge that assist the stewards.Customers / Stakeholders
Maintain effective relationship with on-shore business partners and identify areas of improvements through continuous communication across stakeholders all LoDs. Escalate key stakeholder issues in an effective way to ensure timely resolution.Provide recommendations and guidance to stakeholders around Risk, Control, Issue and Action profiles end to end, leading to improved risk management.Oversight on Risk Steward Support Generic mailbox and mails to be actioned and prompt response.Maintenance of RSPO SharePoint and collaboration with MI teams, CoE and program managers to ensure effective coordination.Teamwork
Effective collaboration across the HSBC Group including the Country Risk Stewards, CoE Leaders, RC Senior Leadership, across the Regions to support RC Stewardship activities.Constructive feedback of team members while collaborating with them in process of achieving stewardship objectives.Assist in creating & maintaining an environment within the team which fosters free sharing of knowledge & ideas developing soft skills and technical competency for self.Operational Effectiveness & Control
Identification and management of RC risks. In-depth understanding of risk management framework and risk stewardship responsibilities. Performance of stewardship tasks as per standards and provide risk recommendations.Deliver products that support the risk stewardship model and promote an active risk management culture within RC functionImplementation of tracking and oversight protocols to ensure stewardship recommendations are being shared on time, actioned where requiredIdentify re-engineering, Automation processes alignment opportunities across processes/systems to improve efficiency, in turn reducing lead time, improve consistency/quality/ cost saves.To be successful you will:
Skills, Abilities and Experience Required:
Risk Frameworks – Excellent knowledge and understanding of: Risk Management Framework and Non financial risk management framework. An understanding of the concepts supporting a risk management framework, the lines of defence and how they interact and how a risk profile is established, with key risks identified and appropriate controls mapped. Knowledge of how a risk profile can be challenged and remediation activities tracked.Regulatory Compliance Risks – Knowledge of the wider regulatory environment and financial crime risks and some idea of the likely regulatory risks and upcoming changes that are mostly likely to impact global banking and which areas of our business are likely to be most affected. Knowledge and understanding of the global regulatory environment and key compliance risk trends as well as practitioner-level knowledge of regulatory obligations in multiple jurisdictions.Business Processes – Candidates should have an overall understanding of the different types businesses across HSBC and the types of products offered by each and how these businesses are supported by middle and back offices.Stakeholder Engagement – Candidates must feel confident engaging with onshore stakeholders directly, including 1LoD and 2LoD stakeholders. Candidates must be able to build effective working relationships and provide robust challenge and feedback where necessary without compromising those relationships.Report Writing & Drafting skills – Candidates must be able to summarise large amounts of complex data and notes into clear and comprehensive summary / reports that can be readily understood by senior audience. Candidates must be able to meet challenging deadlines to produce such reports. Must have ability to draft recommendations in clear, concise and professional manner to convey the stewardship analysis output to senior stakeholders.Analytical Skills – The candidates must be able to understand source data, compare information from across the three lines of defence and reach a conclusion, identifying anomalies and where further input required. This includes both strong verbal and numerical analysis, as successful applicants will have to use numerical comparison and close reading of rationales to reach suitable conclusionsSuccessful delivery within a change / project environment.To support decisions with sound reasoning, clearly articulate the case for risk management and policy and the business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings;A highly motivated and dynamic self-starter, working collaboratively within teams, delivering on time and with a strong attention to detail.With strong inter-personal skills and excellent communication, dealing with senior executives.Sound judgment and problem solving skills, ability to think laterally.Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.High level of professional and personal integrity.Providing input into the design of and implementing enhancements to HSBC risk management framework.Working with MI and Project teams to oversee the design and implementation of a new technical solution to ensure data is available via a user-friendly front-end reporting tool.You'll achieve more at HSBC
