Role & responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the Meter Data Management System (MDMS) to ensure accurate and timely data acquisition.
  • Perform data validation, estimation, and editing (VEE) processes to ensure high-quality meter data.
  • Monitor data flows from AMI systems and troubleshoot communication issues with field devices.
  • Collaborate with IT, field operations, and customer service teams to resolve data discrepancies and meter-related issues.
  • Support integration of MDMS with enterprise systems such as CIS, OMS, SCADA, and DMS.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards for consumption analysis, load forecasting, and operational insights.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for data anomalies and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, and deployment of new MDMS functionalities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal data governance policies.
  • Assist in defining and documenting business processes related to meter data management.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on MDMS usage and best practices.
  • Contribute to data analytics initiatives for energy efficiency, demand response, and grid optimization.
  • Support audit and regulatory reporting requirements by preparing accurate and timely data extracts.
  • Monitor and improve data latency and availability for real-time operational needs.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving smart grid technologies and digital transformation.

  • Hands-on experience with MDMS platforms (e.g., Oracle Utilities, Siemens EnergyIP, Itron).

  • Strong understanding of AMI systems, smart meters, and utility data architecture.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data analytics tools; experience with scripting or automation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with utility billing processes, regulatory compliance, and energy data standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with integration of MDMS with enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Certification in utility data management, smart grid, or related technologies.
  • Exposure to cloud-based MDMS solutions and cybersecurity practices.
