Job Overview:

The
Solar Project Engineer
plays a vital role in planning, designing, and executing solar power projects from concept to commissioning. This position involves detailed engineering design, site assessment, technical documentation, and coordination with procurement and installation teams. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, electrical design principles, and hands-on experience in project execution.

This role provides a dynamic mix of office-based design and field-based implementation — ideal for professionals passionate about building a sustainable solar future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and single-line diagrams (SLD) for rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects.
  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments, including site surveys and shading analysis.
  • Design solar PV systems using simulation tools like PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, or SketchUp.
  • Prepare bill of materials (BOM) and technical specifications for procurement.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Supervise project installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards, safety codes, and quality requirements.
  • Support tendering and estimation teams by providing design inputs and costing details.
  • Conduct performance ratio (PR) analysis and system performance validation.
  • Prepare project documentation including as-built drawings, test reports, and handover files.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, including DC and AC design, string sizing, and inverter selection.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, MS Excel, and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with BIS, IEC, MNRE, and CEA standards for solar installations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report-writing skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
  • Experience in site supervision and on-ground project execution is preferred.

Educational Qualification:

  • B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related discipline.
  • Additional certifications in Solar Design, PV Systems, or Project Management are advantageous.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2–4 years of experience in solar PV system design and project execution (rooftop/ground-mounted).
  • Experience in both commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects is desirable.
