Position: Associate Professor - Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)

Position Summary

MIT College of Management (MITCOM) seeks an experienced and research-focused academic for the position of Associate Professor within the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) program. The ideal candidate will provide academic leadership, mentor faculty, drive departmental research, and deliver high-quality instruction in core Computer Science and Applications subjects, adhering strictly to the latest AICTE norms for technical faculty.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership and Advanced Teaching

• Teach advanced-level subjects in the BCA program, such as Advanced Data Structures, Web Technologies, Database Management Systems, Software Engineering, Mobile Application Development, and Cloud Computing.
• Lead the continuous development, review, and accreditation of the BCA curriculum to align with industry demands and AICTE standards.
• Mentor Assistant Professors in teaching methodologies, course delivery, and student engagement.
• Oversee and guide student capstone projects, internships, and research initiatives.

2. Research Management and Mentorship

• Maintain an active and high-impact research portfolio, securing publications in SCI/Scopus/UGC-CARE indexed journals.
• Guide Ph.D. scholars (if recognized as a Ph.D. Supervisor) and foster a strong research culture within the department.
• Initiate and secure research grants, funding, and consultancy projects from external agencies (both government and private).
• Contribute to the development of departmental research policies and ethical guidelines.

3. Institutional Development and Administration

• Assume senior administrative roles, such as Program Coordinator, Head of Department (HOD) for BCA, or Chairperson of academic committees (e.g., examination, placements, quality assurance).
• Ensure departmental compliance with all AICTE/UGC/University regulations and lead program accreditation efforts (e.g., NAAC, NBA).
• Establish robust industry-academia linkages for curriculum collaboration, faculty training, and student placements in the IT sector.
• Lead and participate in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and knowledge transfer initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria (As per AICTE Regulations for Technical Institutions/MCA)

The minimum qualifications for the direct recruitment of an Associate Professor in Computer Applications must strictly adhere to the latest AICTE norms:

1. Educational Qualification

• Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied discipline(s) is mandatory (e.g., Computer Applications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering).
• Master's Degree (MCA/M.Tech./M.E./M.S.) in a relevant discipline with First Class or equivalent (minimum 60%) at the Masters level.
• Bachelor's Degree (BCA/B.Sc. Computer Science/B.E./B.Tech.) in a relevant discipline with First Class or equivalent.

2. Experience

• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College, or Accredited Research Institution OR Eight (8) years of relevant industry experience in a senior managerial or equivalent position, combined with academic qualifications, with at least 3 years post-Ph.D..
• The required experience must be post-Ph.D. and/or after acquiring the Master's Degree, as stipulated by AICTE/UGC.

3. Research & Publications

• Research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals & Research projects undertaken or completed or guided must be as per the criteria mentioned in the relevant UGC/AICTE regulations.
• The total research score must be as per the criteria mentioned in the relevant UGC/AICTE regulations.
• Evidence of having guided at least one Ph.D. scholar or equivalent research degree is highly desirable.

Desirable Skills and Attributes

• Proven expertise in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cloud Infrastructure, or Cybersecurity.
• Experience in securing and managing large-scale research projects.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor faculty and lead administrative teams effectively.
