Role and Responsibilities: The Academic Counselor plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic journey. This position involves providing academic and career guidance, helping students with course selection, and assisting them in achieving their educational and career goals. The Academic Counselor also plays a crucial role in student retention and ensuring a positive learning experience.
  • Academic and Career Counseling:
  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to discuss academic goals, career aspirations, and course selection.
  • Assist students in creating personalized academic plans and timelines.
  • Provide information on various career pathways in the spa, salon, and skincare industry.
  • Student Support:
  • Serve as a resource for students, addressing academic and non-academic concerns or challenges.
  • Offer guidance on time management, study skills, and effective learning strategies.
  • Connect students with relevant support services, including tutoring and academic resources.
  • Admissions Support:
  • Assist prospective students in the admissions process by providing information on programs, prerequisites, and application procedures.
  • Conduct pre-admission interviews and assessments as needed.
  • Course Scheduling:
  • Collaborate with academic departments to develop class schedules that meet the needs of students.
  • Help students create personalized class schedules based on their availability and academic requirements.
  • Student Progress Tracking:
  • Monitor student progress and attendance, identifying and addressing potential issues or challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and counseling sessions.
  • Retention and Outreach:
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student retention rates.
  • Organize and participate in student orientation programs and workshops.
  • Career Services:
  • Assist students in preparing resumes, cover letters, and job applications.
  • Facilitate workshops on interview skills, networking, and job search strategies.
  • Compliance and Regulations:
  • Stay informed about relevant industry regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Ensure that academic counseling practices are in compliance with all applicable guidelines.

Candidate Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Female candidates (only) with 2+ years in counseling or client management or sales in spa/skincare, education, or retail industry.
  • Very good sales skills, proven experience in sales conversion
  • Smart and presentable
  • Knowledge of the spa, salon, and skincare industry is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with academic advising software and tools.
