Job Summary:

The CSSD Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, medical devices, and equipment. This role ensures that all sterile supplies meet infection control and quality standards, supporting safe patient care across all hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Decontamination and Cleaning

  • Receive used surgical instruments and equipment from clinical departments.
  • Pre-clean, wash, and disinfect instruments according to established protocols.
  • Operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and other decontamination equipment safely.

2. Inspection and Assembly

  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and wear or damage.
  • Assemble instrument trays and sets accurately based on procedure requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of tray contents and sterilization cycles.

3. Sterilization Process

  • Prepare, load, and operate autoclaves and other sterilization systems.
  • Verify sterilization parameters (time, temperature, pressure) and record cycle results.
  • Label and store sterile packs appropriately, ensuring traceability.

4. Distribution and Inventory Control

  • Issue sterile and non-sterile supplies to wards, operating rooms, and other units.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of consumables and instruments.
  • Report shortages, damage, or discrepancies to the supervisor promptly.

5. Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) standards.
  • Participate in equipment validation, biological indicator testing, and recordkeeping.
  • Assist in regular audits and quality improvement initiatives.

6. Safety and Maintenance

  • Adhere to occupational health and safety protocols.
  • Ensure all sterilization equipment is cleaned and maintained per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹10, ₹12,000.00 per month
