Job Description:

A mill shift incharge, also known as a shift supervisor or shift manager in a mill environment, is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations of the mill during their assigned shift. This role involves ensuring smooth and efficient production, maintaining equipment performance, and adhering to safety and quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities of a Mill Shift Incharge:

  • Supervising and Coordinating Workforce:
    The incharge manages and directs the mill workers, assigning tasks and ensuring they are executed effectively and safely. 


  • Monitoring Equipment Performance:
    They are responsible for observing and maintaining the performance of machinery and equipment, taking necessary actions to address any issues. 


  • Achieving Production Targets:
    The shift incharge ensures that the mill meets its production targets for the assigned shift, including quality, quantity, and deadlines. 


  • Maintaining Product Quality:
    They are responsible for ensuring that products meet quality standards, including addressing any quality control problems that may arise. 


  • Ensuring Safety:
    The incharge is responsible for implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. 


  • Communication and Handover:
    They communicate effectively with other supervisors and managers regarding shift operations, issues, and planned maintenance. 


  • Inventory Management:
    In some roles, the shift incharge may be responsible for managing and ordering supplies and materials as needed. 


  • Problem Solving:
    They are expected to identify and address any issues or problems that may arise during the shift, making decisions and taking action to resolve them. 


  • Training and Development:
    The incharge may be responsible for training new employees or mentoring existing staff to improve skills and performance. 


  • Reporting:
    They may be required to report on production, quality, and safety performance to management.
