Role: Neurosurgeon

About the Institution: A nationally accredited (NABH) 500-bed teaching hospital and major healthcare provider in the North East region, dedicated to world-class medical care. Established decades ago, the institution operates numerous general and super specialties with 24x7 advanced services. The hospital is academically affiliated with a prominent, decades-old University offering 57 courses and a 500-bed super specialty hospital.

About the Department: The Department of Neurosurgery is an established specialty providing comprehensive care for disorders of the brain, spine, and nervous system. It is supported by a large, multi-specialty Intensive Care complex, including dedicated units like the Neuro-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) and other well-equipped Intensive Care Units. The department utilizes advanced diagnostic imaging, such as MRI 1.5 Tesla, Spiral CT Scan, and 64 slice CT, for comprehensive patient management.

Mandatory Qualifications: DM Neurosurgery or DNB-SS Neurosurgery. The degree must be recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Minimum Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience post-mandatory qualifications (DM Neurosurgery or DNB-SS Neurosurgery) is required.

Exceptional Candidates: Candidates with 1-4 years of experience prior to obtaining the Mandatory Qualifications, and at least 1 year of experience post-Mandatory Qualifications, will be considered.

Academic Focus (Key Area of Focus): Relevant work experience and active participation in academic activities within recognized universities, medical colleges, or teaching hospital environments is a key area of focus.

Technical Proficiency and Expertise (Subject-Specific)

Extensive documented experience in performing a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures for conditions affecting the central and peripheral nervous system, including:

  • Cranial Procedures: Expertise in surgical management of complex conditions such as brain tumors (e.g., glioma, meningioma), cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations (e.g., AVMs), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and hydrocephalus (shunt insertion).
  • Spinal Procedures: Proficiency in the surgical and medical treatment of degenerative spinal conditions, spinal cord injuries, tumors of the spine, diskectomy, laminectomy, and spinal fusion.
  • Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery (MINS): Documented experience with minimally invasive surgical techniques and advanced technologies like microsurgery and surgical navigation systems.
  • Neuro-Trauma and Emergencies: Management of acute, life-threatening neurosurgical emergencies and complex head and spinal cord trauma.
  • Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery: Experience in procedures for movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson's disease) and pain management (e.g., trigeminal neuralgia, stereotactic radiosurgery).
  • Ancillary Expertise: Ability to order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as MRIs and CT scans, and collaborate closely with Neurologists and Radiologists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership for the Neurosurgery Department, working to lead and strengthen comprehensive neurosurgical services.
  • Emergency Care: Perform scheduled and emergency neurosurgery procedures and interventions (requiring 24x7 support).
  • Consultant Services: Offer comprehensive neurosurgical consultant services to the Outpatient Department (OPD) and inpatient admissions.
  • Critical Care Management: Manage critical care patients with severe neurological conditions and trauma within the Intensive Care complex (including NSICU/ICU).
  • Academic Contribution: Contribute actively to clinical training, research, and departmental development initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

Remuneration: A highly competitive salary package ranging from approximately 4 Lakh to 8 Lakh per month, commensurate with experience.

Retention Bonus/Incentives:

  • The compensation structure includes a retention bonus paid at the end of the 1st year and 2nd year tenure.
  • The successful candidate will also be eligible for a variable pay component (Clinical Incentive).
