About Position / Position Summary

The Boeing Company is currently seeking high performing versatile Associate Programming Analyst - COBOL/Python to join the Information Digital Technology & Security (IDT&S) Engineering Products  build team. The Engineering Products build team provides comprehensive software solutions to rapidly access and visually transform complex engineering and manufacturing product data. Responsibilities include development and integration for a variety of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and in-house software applications supporting our engineering/manufacturing teams. Job requires working within a diverse team of skilled and motivated co-workers to collaborate on results. Other qualities for this candidate are a positive attitude, self-motivation, the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

This role will be based out of Bengaluru, India.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops software solutions to meet end user's requirements. Ensures that application integrates with overall system architecture, utilizing standard IT lifecycle methodologies and tools.
  • Develops algorithms, data and process models, plans interfaces and writes interface control documents for use in construction of solutions of moderate complexity.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies. Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints.
  • Good communication skills are needed both verbally and written, to Interact with peers and customers.
  • The job requires the ability to work well with others on a team as well as independently.
  • Job requires working within a diverse team of skilled and motivated co-workers to collaborate on results.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Strong expertise in COBOL with IMS DB is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Python is essential.
  • Strong understanding of the Linux operating system, shell scripting, and experience with GNUCOBOL on the Linux platform.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases, along with a good grasp of database concepts, complex SQL queries, and stored procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with build and deployment tools and languages, as well as best practices and tools related to CI/CD, such as GITLAB, Jenkins, and Ansible.
  • Experience in understanding and working with various data structures.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and understand software from source code.
  • Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across multiple products and locations.
  • Flexibility and a high tolerance for organizational complexity, with the ability to work with partners both within Boeing and externally, across different cultures and time zones.
  • Extensive experience collaborating within an Agile team environment, contributing to the creation of Epics, Features, and Stories, as well as solution design and architecture.
  • Ability to independently execute and deliver on the backlog without requiring assistance or supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust, persuade, motivate, and mentor team members. The candidate should be a self-starter with a positive attitude, strong ethics, and exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills, along with a proven ability to perform successfully under pressure in time-sensitive situations.
  • Proficient in resolving problems and roadblocks as they arise, consistently paying attention to details while driving innovation and issue resolution.
  • Responsible for mentoring junior team members on technical matters and supporting the development of internal competencies and resources for critical skill sets.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Functional experience of product development in Aerospace/Automotive domain.
  • Knowledge of C++, micro services, API development, and cloud technologies.
  • Understanding of data structures and design patterns.
  • Knowledge of Agile development practices.
  • Familiarity with tools such as VS Code, GIT, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Coverity, and SonarQube.

Typical Education & Experience:


•    Typically, 4 or more years' related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
