Job Description:

Have to visit site 3 days weekly

The Mechanical Purchase Head is responsible for leading the procurement of all mechanical components, machinery, equipment, and spares required for plant operations and projects. The role includes vendor development, cost control, contract negotiation, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials as per technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute purchase strategies for mechanical items, spares, and capital equipment.

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for cost-effective and quality supply.

  • Review technical specifications and coordinate with the engineering/maintenance team to finalize purchase requirements.

  • Negotiate with vendors on pricing, terms, lead times, and payment terms.

  • Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely procurement to avoid production delays.

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the store and planning department.

  • Manage AMC, warranty, and service contract procurement for plant equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory regulations.

  • Maintain vendor database and assess supplier performance regularly.

  • Collaborate with accounts, logistics, and quality departments for seamless workflow.

  • Track market trends and new sources to optimize procurement cost and efficiency.

  • Oversee import documentation, LC handling (if applicable), and logistics coordination.

Qualifications:

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory)

  • MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain or Materials Management (preferred)

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally)

Required Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical components, equipment, and spares

  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills

  • Good understanding of commercial terms, taxes, and statutory compliance

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Analytical and strategic thinking
