Role & responsibilities

A dynamic and committed educator responsible for delivering high-quality Spanish language instruction across the Middle Years Programme (MYP) . Rooted in the IB philosophy, the facilitator cultivates intercultural understanding, language proficiency, and inquiry-based learning, enabling students to become effective communicators and globally-minded citizens.

Curriculum Design & Instruction

  • Plan and implement the IB MYP Language Acquisition and IB MYP Language B curriculum in alignment with IB philosophy, standards, and assessment objectives.
  • Integrate ATL skills, IB Learner Profile attributes, and Global Contexts/Themes into unit and lesson planning.
  • Create a stimulating classroom environment using authentic texts, multimedia resources, and interactive strategies to enhance listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Adapt instructional practices based on student feedback, reflection, and ongoing formative assessment.

Assessment and Reporting

  • Design and deliver assessments aligned with PYP ,MYP assessment criteria.
  • Support students through the MYP Internal Assessments (Individual Speaking/Oral Assessment, etc.) ensuring authenticity and academic integrity.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and contribute to formal reporting cycles, PTMs, and student progress reviews.

Differentiation & Student Support

  • Implement differentiated instruction tailored to diverse language proficiencies, learning profiles, and support needs.
  • Provide academic scaffolding for emergent language learners and extension for advanced students.
  • Promote student agency by incorporating regular self-assessment and reflection practices.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with subject facilitators, IB coordinators, and interdisciplinary teams for cohesive curriculum delivery and transdisciplinary connections.
  • Contribute to unit design and documentation, especially through collaborative planning meetings.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with students, parents, and colleagues to foster academic growth and emotional well-being.

Professional Learning & IB Involvement

  • Stay updated with developments in language acquisition and IB pedagogy through workshops, conferences, and MyIB resources.
  • Actively participate in subject group meetings and contribute to the schools learning culture.
  • Preferred: Completion of IB-recognized Category 1/2 workshops in MYP Language Acquisition and.

School & Community Engagement

  • Organize or contribute to school-wide events such as International Mother Language Day, cultural exhibitions, or literary fests.
  • Support student participation in debates, language contests, and PYP /MYP exhibitions.
  • Assist with CAS,TOK or SAA supervision as needed.

Policy Adherence and Administrative Duties

  • Uphold IB and school policies related to academic integrity, inclusion, assessment, and teaching practices.
  • Ensure proper documentation for students requiring inclusive access arrangements.
  • Complete assigned administrative responsibilities related to examinations, moderation, or data management.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Spanish Language, Hispanic Studies, or related field or equivalent Diploma B2 or C1 level
  • Minimum 2-4 years of IB teaching experience (MYP Language Acquisition).
  • Strong grasp of IB pedagogical principles, including ATL integration, inquiry, and concept-based learning.
  • Fluency in Spanish and high proficiency in English (written and oral). Technologically adept, with experience using digital platforms for language teaching and assessment.
  • IB Workshop certifications (Category 1/2) in both PYP/MYP preferred.
