About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on AWS Engineer who can take complete ownership of our cloud environment — from architecture and setup to automation, monitoring, security, and cost management.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex cloud problems, building scalable environments, and managing AWS end-to-end with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

1. AWS Architecture & Design

  • Design scalable, secure, and high-performing AWS architectures.
  • Select appropriate AWS services for applications, data, and networking needs.
  • Build reusable standards, best practices, and reference architectures.

2. Provisioning & Infrastructure as Code

  • Deploy and manage infrastructure using Terraform / CloudFormation.
  • Handle multi-account and multi-VPC setups following best practices.
  • Develop reusable IaC modules and automation scripts.

3. Security, Governance & Compliance

  • Own IAM architecture: roles, policies, permission boundaries.
  • Implement network security (SGs, NACLs, WAF, VPN, subnet design).
  • Manage AWS security services: GuardDuty, KMS, CloudTrail, Security Hub.
  • Work with IT/compliance teams to support SOC2/ISO requirements.

4. Operations, Monitoring & Reliability

  • Manage monitoring using CloudWatch, OpenSearch, Prometheus, or similar.
  • Set up logging, dashboards, alerts, health checks, and distributed tracing.
  • Build backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
  • Lead incident response and root-cause analysis.

5. DevOps & Automation

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Jenkins / GitLab CI / CodePipeline).
  • Automate deployments, patching, scaling, and cleanup tasks.
  • Work closely with developers to streamline releases and environments.

6. Cost Visibility & Optimization

  • Monitor AWS spending and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Optimize compute, storage, and networking costs.
  • Provide periodic usage and cost reports to leadership.

7. Collaboration & Documentation

  • Coordinate with development, security, ops, and product teams.
  • Translate technical requirements into cloud solutions.
  • Maintain clear documentation: runbooks, diagrams, architecture docs, FAQs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing production workloads on AWS.
  • Strong command of core AWS services:
  • Compute: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS
  • Storage: S3, EBS, EFS
  • Database: RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB
  • Networking: VPC, Route53, ALB/NLB, Transit Gateway
  • Expertise with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of security best practices (IAM, KMS, network isolation).
  • Monitoring & logging experience (CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Grafana, Prometheus).
  • Proficiency in Bash or Python scripting.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across network, OS, and cloud layers.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • AWS Certifications: Solutions Architect / DevOps / SysOps.
  • Experience managing multi-account setup using AWS Organizations / Control Tower.
  • Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS EKS.
  • Experience working in fast-paced or startup environments.
  • Exposure to microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
