Job Title: Senior Consultant (SQL Server DB Architect) – UK Shift

NetCom Learning is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong SQL Server expertise, hands-on experience in Data Warehousing and Data Engineering, and the ability to independently support, maintain, and optimize database systems.

Key Responsibilities

Database Architecture & Development

Develop, document, and maintain database-related best practices, standards, and system recommendations.

Design physical and logical database structures, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.

Write complex and optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and database scripts.

Create detailed database architecture documentation for management and technical teams.

Plan and implement upgrades of database management system software to enhance performance.

Data Warehouse & Data Engineering

Design, build, and maintain enterprise data warehouse solutions.

Develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL Server, Azure, AWS, or other modern data tools.

Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability across multiple systems and applications.

Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate data sources and optimize data flows.

Implement best practices for data modeling, metadata management, and data governance.

Performance Optimization & Maintenance

Perform performance tuning and optimization (PTO) for large-scale databases.

Implement partitioning, indexing strategies, statistics maintenance, and resource optimization.

Manage backups, restores, recovery models, and disaster recovery procedures.

Develop load-balancing processes to minimize downtime during backup and maintenance.

Monitor databases continuously and troubleshoot issues proactively.

Collaboration & Mentorship

Work with application architects, developers, and cross-functional teams during solution design and implementation.

Mentor development teams on database development best practices.

Partner with business and non-technical stakeholders during requirement gathering and analysis.

Required Skills & Qualifications

5–7 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA / SQL Server Database Architect.

Proven experience in Enterprise Data Warehouse design and implementation.

Strong knowledge of Data Engineering concepts, ETL, data pipelines, and cloud data services.

Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms.

Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.

Strong experience with backups, restores, and disaster recovery.

Solid understanding of relational database theories, structures, indexing, and locking mechanisms.

Experience with Power BI for reporting and analytics.

Knowledge of Python or PHP is an added advantage.

Strong problem‐solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management skills.
