Job Summary

The Structural Engineer designs, analyses, and assesses structures to ensure they withstand various forces. This role involves applying engineering mechanics principles to create efficient, sustainable, and code-compliant designs for new projects or to assess and rehabilitate existing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structural Design & Analysis: Design structural systems (e.g., foundations, frames, beams, columns) and perform detailed analysis and calculations using hand methods and software (ETABS, Revit, STAAD.Pro). Calculate load demands (dead, live, wind, seismic, snow).

  • Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports. Ensure designs comply with building codes and industry standards. Review and approve shop drawings and material submittals.

  • Collaboration & Project Management: Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and contractors. Provide technical support during construction, addressing RFIs and design changes. Conduct site visits to monitor progress and assess quality.

  • Assessment & Problem-Solving: Investigate and evaluate existing structures, recommending repairs or retrofitting. Resolve complex structural issues.

Technical Skills
  • Expert knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, STAAD.Pro).
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), and their behavior.
Professional Skills
