Job Description-General Manager- Production (Edible Oil Industry)

Department Procurement Direct Reporting To

Role Purpose

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Develop and execute the procurement strategy in alignment with business requirement.

Evaluate and develop alternate suppliers to reduce dependency and enhance cost competitiveness.

Stay updated on global and local market trends to make timely and cost-effective buying decisions.

Oversee day-to-day procurement operations to ensure on-time availability of materials for manufacturing setup across.

Coordinate with production, packaging, utility, store, and R&D teams for seamless supply planning.

Ensure accuracy and transparency in procurement processes through SAP

Build strong relationships with suppliers and traders.

Negotiate long-term contracts, supply agreements, and credit terms ensuring best price, quality, and timely service.

Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews to maintain quality and reliability.

Drive vendor development initiatives for sustainable and ethical sourcing.

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing purchase team.

Establish clear KPIs and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Represent the purchase function in monthly/quarterly business reviews

Compliance

Ensure all procurement activities comply with statutory norms, and food safety regulations.

Promote sustainable sourcing and traceability in line with company ESG goals.

Cost Optimization & Compliance

Develop annual procurement budgets and deliver targeted cost savings.

Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.

Manage risk through effective contracts, insurance coverage, and contingency planning. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIS: (Degree, training, or certification required)

B.Tech, Masters/Post Graduate in Supply chain/Operations

To oversee all procurement activities, ensuring uninterrupted supply in timely and cost-effective manner. This role requires a strategic approach to vendor management, cost control, and supply chain efficiency thus playing a key role in driving operational success through effective procurement policies and processes

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: (No. of years of technical, functional, and/or leadership experience or specific exposure required)

15-20 years of experience in FMCG (preferably edible oil) with at least 5-7 years of leadership experience. COMPETENCIES:

Strong expertise in sourcing raw & packaging material, vendor negotiation.

Exposure of SAP4 HANA & digital procurement tools is must.

Excellent analytical, leadership & stakeholder management skills.

Experience in managing multi-category and multi-geography procurement portfolios.
