Principle Full Stack Engineer

(Based in Mumbai)

In this role, you will be the Senior Technical reference point for multiple product teams. You'll work across architecture, design, and delivery helping build scalable, secure, and cloud-native systems that connect ship and shore operations. You will spend your time guiding engineering decisions, mentoring senior engineers, and still contributing hands-on to critical components where your expertise adds the most value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the technical blueprint for key product areas, ensuring systems are modular, resilient, and built for scale.
  • Set engineering standards for code quality, architecture, testing, and observability across multiple teams.
  • Work closely with product managers and business stakeholders to translate functional goals into robust technical solutions.
  • Lead design discussions and technical reviews, particularly around distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven patterns.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to improve products and user experience.
  • Provide technical coaching to senior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow in system design, debugging, and performance optimisation.
  • Collaborate with cloud and DevOps teams on deployment strategies, cost optimisation, security, and disaster recovery.
  • Step in hands-on when needed on complex modules, spikes, or incident resolution, setting the benchmark for technical execution.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor or Master degree in computer science, information technology or other relevant field of study.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a principal, staff, or similar technical leadership role.
  • Solid background in modern JavaScript/TypeScript with experience in React on the front end and or similar frameworks on the backend.
  • Strong experience designing and operating distributed systems and microservice-based architectures.
  • Practical expertise with one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including CI/CD pipelines, high-availability setups, and performance tuning.
  • Working knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases (for example PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB), including data modelling and optimisation.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, influencing architecture across teams, and engaging confidently with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues in high-scale production environments.
  • Exposure to Generative AI or AI-assisted development (e.g. integrating APIs, using frameworks such as LangChain, Vertex AI, or Hugging Face) will be considered a plus.
  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes, or serverless environments is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of microservices, micro frontends, TDD, Ansible is nice to have.
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, Agile, scrum master will be advantageous.
