Buying Merchandiser Garment Manufacturing

A leading luxury design and manufacturing studio is looking for a Buying Merchandiser with strong sourcing acumen and deep industry connections in garment factories and supplier networks across India.The ideal candidate will be a strategic buyer and negotiator who can identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers for fabric, trims, and garment production ensuring that every order meets design integrity, cost efficiency, and delivery timelines.This role is suited for a go-getter who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, understands both creative and commercial aspects of apparel manufacturing, and can ensure seamless coordination between design, sourcing, and production teams.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESVendor & Factory SourcingIdentify and onboard garment factories, fabric mills, and accessory suppliers aligned with luxury quality standards.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with existing and new vendors across India (Delhi NCR, Tirupur, Jaipur, Mumbai, etc.).Evaluate supplier capabilities for MOQ, lead time, compliance, and quality assurance.Ensure vendor selection aligns with cost, capacity, and brand standards.Buying & Cost NegotiationNegotiate competitive pricing, credit terms, and production schedules with vendors and manufacturers.Create cost breakdowns for fabrics, trims, labor, and logistics.Ensure cost efficiency while maintaining premium quality benchmarks.Track and report purchase orders, deliveries, and costing variations.Production CoordinationCollaborate with design and technical teams to ensure all specifications and sampling requirements are clearly communicated to factories.Follow up on sample approvals, PP samples, and bulk production.Monitor production timelines to meet T&A (Time & Action) plans and delivery schedules.Troubleshoot production issues swiftly and effectively with factories.Fabric & Trim ManagementSource luxury fabrics, sustainable blends, trims, and accessories for uniform and fashion collections.Keep updated on new materials, innovations, and trends in the market.Ensure consistent quality and availability of materials for sampling and bulk.Documentation & ReportingMaintain detailed records of vendor databases, POs, price lists, and sourcing updates.Prepare regular reports on order status, cost tracking, and vendor performance.Ensure all sourcing documentation aligns with company procedures and audit requirements.KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIESProven experience in vendor sourcing and garment production coordination.Strong factory network across India (woven, knits, and uniforms preferred).Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, and ERP or production management systems.Good understanding of fabric behavior, garment construction, and finishing.Strong multitasking, organization, and time management abilities.Problem-solver with a make it happen mindset.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE58 years experience as a Buying or Production Merchandiser in apparel manufacturing or sourcing offices.Background in luxury, corporate, or uniform apparel manufacturing preferred.Hands-on experience with vendor development and cost negotiations.Knowledge of import/export documentation and logistics coordination is a plus.PERSONALITY & WORK ETHICResourceful, assertive, and results-oriented.Maintains professionalism while handling multiple suppliers and deadlines.Excellent communicator with a collaborative attitude.A go-getter who ensures every job gets done efficiently, on time, and with quality.WHY JOINJoin a design-driven manufacturing house redefining excellence in luxury hospitality and lifestyle uniforms.
