**Job Description Summary**: As a Research Engineer - Thermomechanical, you will collaboratively execute technology programs in development and research of advanced thermal & mechanical design of medical devices. You will interact with technologists and engineers to develop and deliver novel solutions for complex, multi-disciplinary problems for GE Healthcare.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Participate in a team framework on multi-generation technology programs to enable future design advancements, while independently executing tasks leveraging your technical skills.
- Tasks include, but not limited to:

- Advanced modeling and simulation, including high-fidelity analyses, with opportunities for in-house code development.
- Develop and implement hardware for testing and validation, where applicable
- Deliver on technical projects with set timelines and cost, implement plans with mínimal guidance to meet technical requirements and assure proper documentation of the same.

**Required Qualifications**
- Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or related field or a master’s degree in aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of research industry experience
- Fundamental knowledge in any of the following areas: Heat Transfer / Fluid Mechanics / mechanical design
- Experience in using commercial software (ANSYS, Fluent, ICEPACK)
- Experience of using CAD software such as Creo to build assembly models.
- Ability to design, execute, analyze experimental data.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new, unfamiliar technology areas and to abstract system level concepts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

**Desired Characteristics**
- Understanding of cryogenic heat transfer
- Understanding of wide concepts and designs of heat exchangers/ heat pipe
- Experience with Python/C++
