The Histopathology Lab Technician is responsible for preparing and processing tissue samples for microscopic analysis and diagnosis by a pathologist. The technician will handle specimen reception, embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation with strict adherence to quality, safety, and laboratory standards.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
- **Experience**: 1-3 years of experience in a histopathology lab preferred.
- **Certifications**: MLT/ DMLT or equivalent registration.
- **Key Responsibilities**:

- Receive and log histopathological specimens.
- Perform grossing under supervision (if qualified) and assist pathologists in sample dissection.
- Process tissue samples using automated tissue processors.
- Embed tissues in paraffin wax and prepare paraffin blocks.
- Cut tissue sections using a microtome and mount on slides.
- Perform routine and special staining procedures (e.g., H&E, PAS, immunohistochemistry).
- Label, store, and organize slides and tissue blocks appropriately.
- Ensure accurate documentation and labeling for traceability.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration and maintenance logs are updated.
- Adhere to biosafety and infection control protocols.
- Assist in quality control and participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Manage and dispose of hazardous waste as per regulatory guidelines.
- Keep up-to-date with advances in histopathological techniques and tools.
