The Lab Technician in Bioscience will support scientific research and experiments by performing technical tasks in a laboratory environment. The technician will handle equipment, prepare samples, conduct experiments, analyze data, and assist in the day-to-day operations of the lab.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Sample Preparation & Analysis**:
- Prepare biological samples (e.g., tissue, blood, microorganisms) for analysis or testing.
- Perform assays, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, ELISA, or cell culture maintenance.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of samples following laboratory protocols.
- **Equipment Operation & Maintenance**:
- Operate laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and other bio-analytical tools.
- Conduct regular maintenance and calibration of lab equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major malfunctions to supervisors.
- **Data Collection & Documentation**:
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, including methodology, results, and observations.
- Prepare and present data reports, as needed, for review by senior researchers.
- **Laboratory Support**:
- Assist in the preparation of chemical solutions, media, and reagents.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace to adhere to health and safety guidelines.
- Order and manage inventory of lab supplies and materials.
- **Compliance & Safety**:
- Follow safety protocols and ensure all procedures comply with ethical and regulatory standards.
- Assist in implementing health and safety policies, including waste disposal and maintaining proper documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Ensure the lab environment is free from contamination and meets required biosafety standards.
- **Collaboration & Communication**:
- Work closely with research scientists and other lab staff to support ongoing research projects.
- Communicate experimental findings clearly to supervisors and other team members.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- **Education**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Relevant laboratory or practical experience in bioscience or a similar field is preferred.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment and techniques used in bioscience research (e.g., PCR, chromatography, microscopy).
- Familiarity with biological safety standards and protocols.
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry concepts.
- **Soft Skills**:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in experimental work.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and protocols.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

**Working Conditions**:
