Position Overview

The Cyber Security Solutions Architect is responsible for designing and implementing robust security architectures to safeguard an organization’s digital assets. This role involves evaluating security risks, developing strategies, and architecting security solutions that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and emerging threats.

Key Responsibilities

1. Security Architecture Design:

  • Develop end-to-end cybersecurity architectures that encompass network, endpoint, application, and data security.
  • Design solutions to protect against cyber threats, including intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Architect identity and access management (IAM) solutions, including single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and privileged access management (PAM).

2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct security risk assessments and gap analyses to identify vulnerabilities in existing systems.
  • Define security policies, standards, and frameworks to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulations.
  • Develop incident response strategies and disaster recovery plans.

3. Security Solutions Implementation:

  • Lead the implementation of security technologies, such as endpoint protection, data loss prevention (DLP), cloud security platforms, and threat intelligence systems.
  • Integrate security into DevOps workflows (DevSecOps) and ensure secure software development lifecycles.
  • Oversee encryption, tokenization, and key management solutions.

4. Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and NIST frameworks.
  • Provide expertise in security governance and assist in audit preparations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements and incorporate them into security designs.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and third-party vendors to align security strategies with business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing clear guidance on cybersecurity solutions and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to improve security awareness across the organization.

6. Threat Monitoring and Response:

  • Design solutions for real-time threat monitoring and analysis using tools like SIEM, EDR, and XDR platforms.
  • Collaborate with incident response teams to design and implement strategies for detecting, containing, and remediating security breaches.
  • Develop security dashboards and reporting mechanisms for leadership teams.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create detailed security architecture diagrams, workflows, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on the performance and effectiveness of security solutions.
  • Document lessons learned from security incidents and apply improvements to architecture.
Skills and Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

  • Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SIEM, endpoint protection, and encryption.
  • Strong understanding of network security, cloud security (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and application security.
  • Proficiency in IAM solutions, security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms, and penetration testing tools.
  • Familiarity with security protocols and frameworks, such as TLS, SSL, IPSec, OAuth, and SAML.

Architectural Skills:

  • Experience in designing zero-trust architectures and secure cloud environments.
  • Ability to create scalable, resilient, and adaptable security solutions.
  • Strong understanding of system integration and the secure interconnection of various platforms.

Business Acumen:

  • Ability to align cybersecurity strategies with business objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Understanding of budgeting, ROI analysis, and cost-effective security implementations.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Leadership capabilities to guide teams and influence decision-making.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or AWS Certified Security Specialty.
  • Familiarity with frameworks like NIST, COBIT, or ISO 27001 is advantageous.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity architecture or related areas is preferred.
Experience
  • 8-10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a solutions architect role.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing security solutions for large organizations.
  • Experience in responding to security incidents and managing threat landscapes.
