Job Title: Senior Machine Learning/ GenAI / Prompt Engineer, Contractor (3-4 Months with possible extension)
Location: Chennai, India (In-Person/Hybrid). Chennai location is a must have. This is not a Fully remote position.

Join our cutting-edge startup team in Chennai, where we are advancing AI and ML applications within the medical and biotech sectors. We are looking for a seasoned Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in prompt engineering and large language models (LLMs) to create impactful solutions tailored for industry experts. This is a 3-4 month contract role, with the potential for continued collaboration, where you’ll engage closely with experts in medical, biotech, and pharma disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and analyze robust evaluation benchmarks to assess GenAI product performance and effectiveness.
- Engage in prompt engineering to tune LLMs for accuracy and relevance in specialized applications
- Work closely with experts from medical, biotech, and pharma fields to understand their needs and align solutions accordingly
- Innovate and iterate on current systems to enhance performance, efficiency, and user satisfaction
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a Master’s or PhD is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning or backend service development
- Proven experience in building (LLMs) applications, prompt engineering, and ML model evaluation, using LLM frameworks such as LangChain, Llama Index, or Haystack,
- Experience with vector databases, such as PineCode for building RAG or GraphRAG applications.
- Experience using prompt engineering tools, such as PromptLayer or Promptist.
Nice to Have:
- Background or interest in the medical, biotech, or pharma sectors
- Familiarity with backend systems is a plus
