The Assoc Vice President (AVP) Taxation is responsible for overseeing the tax strategy, compliance, and reporting for the company, ensuring adherence to applicable tax laws and regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of corporate taxation, indirect taxes, and international tax laws as they pertain to train catering operations. The AVP Taxation will also advise on tax-efficient structures, manage audits, and support strategic decision-making to optimize the company’s tax position.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Strategy & Planning:
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
  • Analyze the tax implications of business initiatives, including expansion plans and new service launches.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and their impact on business operations.
  1. Tax Compliance:
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of direct and indirect tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with Goods and Services Tax (GST), corporate income tax, and other applicable tax regulations.
  • Manage the company's tax calendar to avoid penalties and ensure timely payments.
  1. Audit & Litigation Management:
  • Represent the company during tax audits, assessments, and investigations.
  • Handle disputes with tax authorities and manage litigation, if any, in collaboration with legal teams.
  • Prepare and present required documentation to auditors and regulators.
  1. Financial Reporting:
  • Ensure accurate reporting of tax provisions and liabilities in financial statements.
  • Collaborate with the finance team for proper tax accounting under applicable standards.
  • Provide tax-related inputs for quarterly and annual financial reviews.
  1. Advisory & Collaboration:
  • Act as a tax advisor to the executive team, providing insights on taxation matters affecting business decisions.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure compliance with tax regulations across various locations.
  • Liaise with external tax consultants, auditors, and legal advisors when necessary.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Build and lead a competent taxation team to manage day-to-day operations effectively.
  • Provide training and updates to the finance and operational teams on tax-related matters.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is mandatory.
  • Additional qualifications in taxation, such as LLM in Taxation, are an advantage.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in taxation, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the food & beverage, catering, or logistics industry is highly desirable.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of direct, indirect, and international taxation.
  • Strong understanding of GST, TDS, and corporate tax compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
