Maiz Kitchens is a funded QSR company with 20+ outlets in Mumbai and Bangalore. We are on a mission to reinvent fast food in India by serving incredibly tasty food that is actually healthy and can be served in a QSR format. We run two brands - Maiz Mexican Kitchen ( and Harvest Salad Co ( have delivered over a million orders since inception. Our ambition is to pioneer the healthy fast food movement in India, build two world class brands, and create a sustainable and profitable company that will last decades. We have just closed a series A fund raise, are expanding rapidly, and plan to have additional stores in Mumbai and other cities in India.
Location
Mumbai, India, On Site Role at our R&D Kitchen in Lower Parel. You must already be based in Mumbai for this role
About the role
We are a product first company, and the founders have personally been very involved in the product development function at the company and have worked closely with some very talented chefs on a project basis. They now want to hire someone full time who will work very closely with them and drive product innovation. We are looking for a young, talented chef who resonates with our mission, and is willing to come work his/her magic at our dedicated R&D kitchen.
Job description
Product Innovation:
Conceptualize and create innovative recipes and menu items aligned with our brands’ healthy and gourmet positioning.
Below are brandwise examples of projects you may be asked to take on
Harvest Salad Co - new range of asian salads and bowls, creating a new category of soups, reworking our lemon tahina dressing
Maiz Mexican Kitchen - seasonal mango salsa, improving pico de gallo, launching a new meat
Recipe Development:
Develop and test recipes, ensuring they are scalable for QSR production.
Maintain the perfect balance of taste, nutrition, and cost efficiency.
Cost and Quality Management:
Work with the procurement team to source high-quality ingredients while managing food costs.
Ensure all products adhere to food safety and quality standards.
Trend Analysis:
Stay updated on food industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor offerings.
Experiment with new ingredients, techniques, and presentation styles.
Team Collaboration:
Train city training managers on new recipes and techniques.
Work closely with the operations team to ensure seamless implementation of new products.
Qualifications and Skills:
A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in culinary roles, preferably in QSR, casual dining, or product development.
Strong expertise in healthy cooking, menu creation, and food innovation.
Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements.
Creativity and a passion for experimenting with flavors, textures, and cuisines.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of cost control and scalable production techniques.
