Senior technical writer

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Writer to create and maintain high-quality documentation for our Saa S product. This role involves working closely with subject matter experts to produce user-friendly materials, including API documentation, help guides, technical FAQs, and release notes. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering comprehensive developer documentation, leading documentation projects, and working in a fast-paced Saa S environment.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation Creation and Maintenance :
Draft, maintain, and edit content for API documentation, help guides, and technical FAQs.
Document input/output for web service APIs, SDKs, platform architecture, and user interfaces.
Create and update content for release notes and product updates.
Developer and User-Focused Content:
Produce developer-friendly documentation for APIs and SDKs, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
Create materials that cater to both technical and non-technical audiences, including end-users.
Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts:
Engage regularly with developers, product managers, and program managers to gather information.
Conduct research and interviews to ensure accurate and up-to-date content.
Facilitate content reviews with SMEs to validate technical accuracy.
Project Leadership:
Lead documentation projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align documentation efforts with product releases.
Content Quality and Standards:
Uphold high-quality standards in documentation, including clarity, consistency, and usability.
Perform developmental editing to enhance the structure and flow of content.
Content Strategy:
Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes and tools.
Ensure documentation aligns with the company’s overall content strategy and user needs.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.
Technical Experience:
6-8 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a Saa S environment.
Proven experience writing and editing developer documentation, including APIs and SDKs.
Familiarity with platform architecture and user interface documentation.
Tools and Technologies:
Proficiency in documentation tools such as Markdown, DITA, or Confluence.
Experience with API documentation tools like Swagger/ Open API.
Basic understanding of programming concepts and languages such as Java.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to engaging with SMEs.
Preferred:
Experience drafting content for release notes and other software lifecycle documentation.
Knowledge of Saa S product architecture and development processes.
